Our Academics

A student at C.H.S takes a maximum of 13 subjects in J.S S. This range of subjects  offers them a wide choice of options in the sciences, Humanities and and the Arts when they get to the senior secondary level. The students then sit for Basic Education Certificate Examination (B.E.C.E). This is a national examination which leads the way for senior secondary education.

At the Senior Secondary School level the curriculum has five compulsory subjects

  • ENGLISH LANGUAGE
  • GENERAL MATHEMATICS
  • COMPUTER STUDIES (ICT)
  • CIVIC EDUCATION
  • ONE TRADE/ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Below are also four distinct fields of specialization from which students are to offer three or four subjects .

  • SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS
  • HUMANITIES
  • BUSINESS STUDIES
  • BASIC TECHNOLOGY

In the senior secondary school, the maximum number of subjects a student can offer is nine. In SS1 students are allowed the choice of offering more than nine. From SS2, they drop the excess subjects.

C.H.S offers an all-round education through our dynamic curriculum which is a combination of the best aspects of the Nigerian and British system. At the end of their sixth year in secondary school, C.H.S students write the following examination.

West African Examination Council ( WASSCE)

National Examination Council Certificate (NECO)

Assembly starts by 7:45 am to 8:00 am.

Classes begin 8:05 am - 3 : 00 pm  Monday to Friday.

Extra – Mural Lesson if when needed starts 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

Fridays no lesson for other classes except for Basic 9 and Year 12.

Academics and Social club meetings are held on Fridays too from 12:45 pm – 2:45 pm.

The school has a sick bay managed by a capable matron. Health related issues will be reported to her through the form teacher so she can take proper decision.

Books are supplied by the school at the beginning of each session

At Cenad High School a student is expected to choose subjects in line with the Federal Ministry of Educations directives, the subjects offered at the junior secondary comes from two components of core subjects and elective subjects:
